High strength vacuums are essential to keeping your floors clean from fine particulates and other dirty/allergy triggering materials, such as pet hair. In this article, we’ll compare Sebo vs. Miele vacuums and decide which brand provides the best overall vacuum for your needs.

By analyzing characteristics such as design, usability, and the filtration system of two various Sebo models and two various Miele models, we’re able to determine which brand creates a superior product, if either at all. Let’s jump in!

The first model is the SEBO 9687AM Airbelt K3 Canister Vacuum with ET-1 Powerhead and Parquet Brush, Red-Corded. This model from Sebo has a commercial-grade powerhead for all the toughest jobs and has amazing steering ability. The SEBO 9687AM Airbelt K3 utilizes a canister that connects to the powerhead via a vacuum hose.

In addition to its maneuverability-friendly design, the Airbelt D4 has a 40 ft. power cord, which results in a 50 ft. cleaning radius. The filter bag is on the larger end, holding up to 1.5 gallons of dirt.

The canister holding the filter bag is also surrounded by a patented, Airbelt bumper, which helps to protect the unit in the event that it’s run into anything.

The unit is also equipped with an LED suction-power indicator, four Castor wheels with rubber coating, and includes four different vacuum head tools.

The filtration system in the Airbelt K3 is incredible. The filter bags are three and four-layered, containing nearly 100% of all dirt collected; adding longevity to the filter’s life.

Additionally, it has a pre-motor filter that cleans and cools the suctioned air before it gets to the motor, improving longevity and performance.

The final aspect of the filtration system is S-class, electrostatically charged exhaust microfilters that collect 99.9% of particulates 0.3 microns and higher.

What Customers Are Saying

Sebo vacuum reviews are generally positive from consumers. Most are in love with the ability to control the suction power and the overall maneuverability.

However, there is a small fraction of consumers that find the hose connection spot to be a bit clumsy. Additionally, it’s universally agreed upon that the unit is neither loud nor extremely quiet.

The Bottom Line

Overall, this Sebo D4 vacuum is a top-shelf item, just as many German vacuum cleaners are. Its nuanced maneuverability makes it incredibly user-friendly and its five-year parts warranty is a solid safety net in terms of the Sebo Airbelt D4 vs Miele models.

Miele Complete C3 Brilliant Canister Review

Miele Complete C3 Brilliant PowerLine Canister Vacuum Cleaner SGPE0 with SEB 236

View at Amazon

Features

  • 13.42″ Commercial powerhead
  • 180º Powerhead steering
  • 5 Additional cleaning tools
  • 1200 Watts
  • 36′ cleaning radius
  • 3-year warranty on parts
  • Dimensions: 19.52″ x 11.18″ x 8.94″
  • Weight: 19.4 lb
  • Color: bronze pearl

In order to determine whether or not you should choose a Sebo or Miele vacuum cleaner, we first need to check out some of the best Miele vacuums.

The first model we’ll review is the Miele Complete C3 Brilliant Canister. This model is extremely similar to the Sebo Airbelt D4 in its build, therefore, the D4 will be our main comparison model.

Just like the D4, the Miele C3 Brilliant unit is corded, connects the powerhead to the canister via a hose, and has roughly 180º steering.

The unit does have its differences, however. The operating radius of the C3 Brilliant is smaller than that of the Sebo D4. The canister of the C3 Brilliant is also vertical as opposed to the D4 laying horizontally.

The canister itself has underbody LED lights that are helpful for dark spots. The settings are all controllable via the handle and the unit comes with an additional five cleaning tools/heads.

Another cool feature of the C3 Brilliant is its ability to automatically switch suction power when transitioning from smooth to carpeted floors.

The filtration system is also slightly different in the C3 Brilliant. The unit sports a unique AirClean Sealed System that is combined with a HEPA AirClean filter that captures and filters up to 99.9% of all dust and particulates.

This helps clean the air in the room and makes it cleaner than it was prior to cleaning.

What Customers Are Saying

Consumers love the C3 Brilliant from Miele. Allergy sufferers are particularly keen on the product as it is said to improve the air quality of their space a great deal. Additionally, it’s noted as performing terrifically and it does so rather quietly.

The Bottom Line

However, the bottom line is that the C3 doesn’t differentiate itself enough from the Sebo D4 to warrant the price point.

The unit performs very similarly to the Sebo D4, has a similar body, and only offers minimal advanced features in comparison. For this reason, we find the Sebo D4 to be a more reasonable model despite the quality of the C3 Brilliant.

Sebo Dart Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Sebo Dart Upright Vacuum Cleaner

View at Amazon

Features

  • 12″ Commercial powerhead
  • 180º Powerhead steering
  • 3 Additional cleaning heads
  • 1300 Watts
  • 5 year warranty on parts
  • Dimensions: 46″ x 10.5″ x 8.5″
  • Weight: 20 lb
  • Color: black/silver

The next model to discuss is the SEBO Dart Upright Vacuum Cleaner. This model isn’t commercially oriented in the way that the D4 is. The SEBO Dart sports a standard upright vacuum design.

As is the case with many upright vacuums, the Dart has a detachable suction unit which also serves as the handle. The handle is also equipped with a variable suction control slider switch.

The Sebo Dart maneuvers very well, too. The vacuum has a swivel neck at the connection of the powerhead and vacuum canister that allows the vacuum to be controlled with one hand rather simply, utilizing 180º steering.

The suction hose can also be pulled out to use for instant suction. The Dart model also comes with extra tools, specifically a crevice tool, upholstery nozzle, and a parquet brush in addition to its standard commercial powerhead.

Interestingly, the Felix utilizes a filtration system very similar to that of the Airbelt D4. The Felix uses three and four-layered filter bags, a pre-motor filter, and the same S-class microfilters. This means that the Felix collects and contains small particulates just as well as the D4 does.

What Customers Are Saying

Similar to the Airbelt D4, consumers are overwhelmingly satisfied with the Dart model. It’s consistently considered one of the best vacuums consumers have used, in addition to the unit being reported as rather quiet!

The Bottom Line

When considering the plethora of features that come with the Sebo Dart, it’s tough to condone buying the D4. The Dart provides nearly identical cleaning at a fraction of the cost.

Now if your space is very large, perhaps the D4 remains a leg up. However, in terms of feature for feature performance, the Dart matches up about equally.

Miele S168 Universal Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Miele Dynamic U1 Powerline Upright Bagged Vacuum Cleaner, White

View at Amazon

Features

  • 180º Powerhead steering
  • 1200 Watts
  • 54′ cleaning radius
  • 3 Year warranty on parts
  • Dimensions: 14.4″ x 13.4″ x 46.5″
  • Weight: 21.4 lb
  • Color: white

The final model to cover in these vacuum cleaner reviews is the Miele S168 Cat and Dog Upright Vacuum. Now this Miele S168 model is similar to the Sebo Felix in its build and function.

The main difference between the two regarding build is the swivel neck. The S168 sports a swivel neck design but the swivel is less free to move than the Sebo Felix model.

The S168 has a special telescopic suction wand with the telescopic tube being constructed of aluminum. This allows you to reach into those far-too-tough-to-reach spots. This U1 is corded as well, just as all models in this review are.

The unit conveniently utilizes an automatic height adjustment feature for maximum comfort of use by various people. The head of the vacuum also shines a bright LED light to brighten dark spots being cleaned.

The filtration system is very similar to that of the Miele C3 Brilliant model. It too utilizes the AirClean Sealed System and is paired with an Active AirClean filter.

This filter forces dust and dirt to interact with a charcoal cassette that neutralizes odors and keeps your space smelling fresh after a vacuum cleaning. The filter bag itself is roughly six liters.

What Customers Are Saying

Consumers are very mixed in their opinions of the Miele S168. There is a non-ignorable faction of consumers who find the unit to be pretty poor, clogging constantly and having pieces break.

However, there’s also a sizable group of people who find the unit to be a high-quality vacuum and one of the best they’ve owned.

The Bottom Line

The Miele U1 is a decently solid vacuum cleaner. However, it pales in comparison to the Sebo Felix because it lacks additional cleaning tools, has a tighter swivel neck that restricts motion a bit more, and has an overall bulkier build.

The filter system is also pretty good but again pales in comparison to that of the Felix.

Conclusion

In conclusion, when it comes to Sebo vacuums vs. Miele vacuums, Sebo has a bit of an edge. Miele provides many of the same features with their vacuums that Sebo does, however, they’re offered at higher price points when they are equivalent.

When they’re not exactly featuring features, such as the Dart vs. the S168, the identical price point is an indication that you can get more bang for your buck from the Sebo Dart.

Of course, there are many reasons to consider the Miele vacuums, but if the Sebo models have all of the features you deem necessary, we recommend heading in that direction.

Regardless, you’ll end up getting yourself one of the top vacuums on the market from two very strong, German-built brands. You can hardly go wrong. With that in mind, what are you waiting for? Get your new vacuum today!
